WINTER WONDERLAND
Winter wonderland, that is exactly what the scene we witnessed looked like. It was as if we were in a fairy tale. I have been on many hikes in the snow throughout the mountains of East Tennessee and Western North Carolina but this day, I was in pure awe. First off, it was a bone chilling 8 degrees and it literally took your breath away even with all the layers I had on. Everything just looked so fresh and clean and pure. The water even had a blue tint that bounced off the bright white of the fresh snowfall. We were fortunate to be the only ones there for about an hour and there was also a calm silence to the whole scene. We walked along the banks of the river and through the fresh fallen snow. We had entered a magical play- land where everything as far as the eyes could see had been covered with a fresh blanket of snow. Imagine if you will, only the sound of the flowing water of the river in the background. This is truly a day that will forever be etched in my mind. If not for the photos, the scene was almost unreal. Sometimes the simple things are what makes us the happiest. A day to be remembered as a true adventure.
